Thanks for taking the time to give your own opinion!

I’m afraid I must disagree with you on the “70s rock inspired” line, especially as there are many rock/metal bands who already pursue this direction far more closely. The “sounds of the 70s” (if you will) can be heard on their records, whereas the guitars and drums on ‘British Lion’ are more akin to what you often hear in 2000-2010′s mainstream rock. Especially with Taylor’s singing.

Some people are okay with this, others are not.

I am a long-time Maiden fan and enjoyed the album. I was worried about what it would sound like as I had read all of the negative reviews prior to listening to the album. I found the album to be a pleasant surprise: No, it is definitely not Maiden but more 70s rock inspired stuff that is quite catchy.

Some “Iron Maiden” and “Killers” album type stuff can be heard in the songs too, but all-in-all this is quite different from the Maiden of today.

I would advise you to give the album a few more spins as personally I thought the album was fantastic.

I’ll buy the new Black Sabbath CD, even make every attempt to see them live if they come near my area. With that said, I wish these legends would not squabble over money… it reminds me of professional athletes. (Yuck).

I found it intriguing, the answer Tony gave regarding Rick Rubin. He said Rubin is not “hands on” and referenced that Rubin “vibes you up” instead. ??? Heck, I would love to be a producer for Black Sabbath or any legendary Metal band! I could certainly “stir-up” the vibes… no problem at all! For a ton less money too! LOL!!

Black Sabbath should have taken the money (thrown at) Rick Rubin and instead (have thrown it) at Bill Ward. It would have been money more well spent… IMO. \m/\m/

Terrific post, (as usual). I listen to and have favorite bands from (just about) every Metal genre… and it can get confusing keeping up with all the sub-genres! LOL! Can it be that genre coverage is both a complex and easy question to ponder, when it comes to magazines or blogs?

I really appreciate what Terrorizer and Metal Hammer cover for bands and news. Zero Tolerance and Iron Fist (for me) are absolutely beneficial in their coverage. I always like to “connect the dots” within the worlds of Hard Rock and Metal.
